Prayer and Positive Thinking

by dido
(durban, south africa)

Question:

Could you please give my more clarification between: Prayer and Positive thinking.

The way I understand.

Prayer: is talking and addressing directly to God The Creator to provide a solution to a particular problem or at any desire that a person need to accomplish in life.

Positive Thinking: is a combination of differents technics and thougths using mind to achieve personal goals in life.

Follows are my questions
1)How can someone use these two?
2)Should be there a specific time frame for prayer?
3)and another as well for using positive Thinking?
4)Or a combination of both?

Waiting to hear from you, I hope you get me here.

Answer:

Prayer and positive thinking do not need to be separate. Prayer and believing in a higher power both have to do with faith and belief. Positive thinking is also about faith and belief. One of the first lessons I ever learned as a child, one of the first bible versus I ever remembered was:

Matthew 17:20 He replied, "Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.

Here is a Quote you might like as well: Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they’ve been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It’s an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It’s a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.
- Nike (beckham)

To me this verse says if you believe and you are positive in that belief, then you too can move mountains. Over the years life gets in the way and I think we forget how powerful we were as children. Tell a child they can do anything and they believe it and they do it. Over the years our peers and the adults in our world tell us we can not do something and along the way we believe it. Now life has gotten in the way.

God says nothing is impossible if you just have faith. This is what it means to practice positive thinking.

I would like to point out also that the bible says we are made in the image of God. If this is to be true which I believe it to be myself. Then we too have the power to create our world as God created his world. “On the first day he said, let there be light and there was light.” Genesis 1:3.

Prayer:
Is talking to God. It is having a conversation with our creator. In order to do this we must have faith and belief that there is a God, a higher power. If we did not have this faith and this belief we would not be praying. We are positive that there is a God. So the simple act of prayer is in and of itself an act of positive thinking.

Positive thinking is all about having faith and belief that we can create our own world which God himself says we have the power to do. So to answer your questions about the time frames of positive thinking and prayer. I personally talk to God throughout the day. I do not have a set time to do this. The great thing about God is that he is always listening. Sometimes I talk to him in the car while driving to and from work, sometimes before bed, or after I wake in the morning. I talk to God not just about what I want out of life, but also what I am thankful for as well. There are many times throughout the day when I simply say thank you God.

Positive thinking works the same way. I am positive when I think about being positive. I have found however that both prayer and positive thinking come easier for those who practice often. For some this means setting a dedicated time for each. In the end it is what works best for you.

I hope this has answered your questions on prayer and positive thinking. If you need more clarification please let me know. I would be happy to answer any of your questions the best I know how.

Prayer and Positive Thinking
by: Anonymous

I have been praying for marriage between me and my lady friend and every time I started to worry. Then on Monday Morning the following came to me John 15 verse 7. I started to think about this and I'm also one of those guys who sits in the car and "talk" to God. I have also tried to link prayer and positive thinking and battled a little but I'm getting there and I am enjoying it. However, thank you so much for this that you have written here.
