Interview with Cindy Holbrook

Q) Hi Cindy, First I just want to say how much I enjoy your site. Your site offers a variety of information, all for the purpose of empowering women and helping them to reach their dreams. My first question is, what is the driving force behind this website. What was your inspiration for starting this site and what keeps you motivated to keep the site growing?

A) Bonnidette, first off, I’d like to thank you, it is a pleasure being interviewed by you. You have done some amazing work yourself!

The driving force behind is my passion to empower women. Nothing thrills me more, than seeing a woman come to the realization that she is a beautiful, unique human being and has many gifts to offer the world and that she can accomplish anything she puts her mind to.

I started this site because of the many obstacles I have overcome myself. I was an abused child and then went into a mentally abusive marriage at age 18. I stayed with him for 20 years. I was deathly ill for three years and have overcame a major depression. Because of my past, I can empathize with the pain that many people have. Sharing my stories with my coaching clients with similar problems gives them hope and inspiration.

My motivation for keeping the site growing is simply to help as many women as I can. So many women feel unfilled and unbalanced I life. They believe they have to say “yes” to everyone else, and rarely take time for themselves. History has taught women to put themselves last. I today’s fast-paced, fast growing world, it is time for women to wake up and be true to themselves.

Q) You talk about the importance of a mastermind group on your site. I was first introduced to the concept when I read the book “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill several years ago and I have taken part in different mastermind groups over the years and they have benefited me greatly. My question is What are some specific benefits you have gotten from participating in your mastermind group and if someone else would like to participate in a mastermind group how could they do that?

A) It is interesting you mention “Think and Grow Rich”, which is one of my favorite books and is where I was introduced to mastermind groups.

Mastermind groups have helped me to grow both personally and professionally. On a personal note, I have insight to inner peace and self-love. Professionally, I have met people who have helped propel my business to the next step.

If someone wants to participate in a mastermind, the first step is to find a group that meets their needs by asking themselves what is their objective. A mastermind group has one focus with a group of like-mined individuals.

I am currently the facilitator of “The Success Charged Mastermind for Entrepreneurs”. This is a 4-week course to teach business owners how to utilize the web to grow their business to the next level.

Q) You are a certified professional empowerment coach and on your site you say your mission is to assist people to achieve by realizing that their lives are there choice. I can say realizing this for myself was one of the turning points in my life. Can you expand on this concept for my readers?

A) This is a BIG subject! So many women do not feel that they have any power over their life. They feel that life just happens. When a woman realizes that she does have a CHOICE in her life, it expands her horizons. She begins to see things in a new and different way. She begins taking responsibility for her life, what happens in it and the choices she makes.

Many women do not even realize that they are not choosing their life. They simply go on doing everything for their significant other, for their children, for their elderly parents and for their employers. They say yes to everything in fear of being disliked and fear of not being a nice person. They feel that they are on earth to please other people.

This is one reason why I offer an introductory Confident Booster session to help women identify the beliefs they have that are holding them back from their dreams and a 3 step process to transform their dreams into reality.

Q) You have an article on your site title “ Fear is Keeping You Stuck”. I could go on and on about this subject, but I will simply ask you to give my readers an example of a time when fear was standing in your way and what you did to concur it and move past it.

A) The answer to this question also relates to your life is your choice …Two years after my mom and dad died, I began a new job and really took to my boss, Carole. Carole listened to me and let me cry on her shoulder many times. I so wanted my husband to love and respect me, to take care of me. He would always threaten to leave the kids and me penniless. I was terrified. The fear of not having enough money coupled with the fear of being alone kept me stuck in that relationship.

I felt like I was the ugliest, most unworthy person in the world. I did not even feel worthy of being touched. These feelings fed my fear of being alone and kept me stuck in loveless marriage, which is one of the most alone, places a person can be.Carole always told me that my life was my choice. I could not change my husband; I could only choose to stay or to leave. She would ask me questions like, how would you support the kids if he left you and did not give you any money? Where would you live? How would you pay your utilities?

I contemplated these questions and read every self-help book I could get my hands on. Deep in my heart I knew the relationship was over, but fear kept me there for a long two years.

I would like to add that I am now very happily married to a wonderful man that treats me with respect and loves me unconditionally. He is my knight in shining armor. It is important to note that I could not have allowed him into my life, without finding out who I was and what I wanted in the first place.

Q) My favorite question to ask people is, Was there a book that really grabbed your attention or made a profound impact on you in the area of self discovery and your own personal growth? I love books and there are many that have had an impact, but I find there is normally ONE that really resonated with someone. Can you share that book with us and tell us what the impact it had on you.

A) I also love books and it is so hard to narrow it down to just one. Wayne Dyer is one of my favorite authors and I love all of his books. Two books have really influenced my life in the last 4 or 5 years, “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle and “The Power of Inner Choice” by Mary E. Allen.

Q) Cindy, Thank you for taking the time to do this interview with me. I just love your site and I know my readers will really enjoy getting to know you and your work. Is there anything you would like to share with my guests, any insight, words of wisdom, practical advice or anything else you feel they would find useful?

A) You are very welcome, Bonnidette! I am happy to hear that you love my site and have gained insight from it.

To close, I would like to remind everyone that their life is their choice. Every decision that you make from the moment you wake up in the morning to closing your eyes and going to sleep at night impacts your life. Be conscious of your choices and begin to transform your dreams into reality.
