This Months Positive Article

This is were we get to the grit. Most of the time you will find articles here from other authors as I like to share the knowledge of others that have touched me in some way because you get what I have to say on the website. Sometimes however, I have a burning desire to write something just for my newsletter subscribers. Either way this is where you will find the best positive articles.

What Do You Love Most

What do you love most? What a powerful question it is. Ask yourself what is it I love most about… my job, my family, my home, my life? Then when you find the answer, dig deeper and ask yourself what is it that I love most about that and why is it that I love that the most.

After you have dug deep into that which you love the most you can begin to get what it is that is most important to you and your life and perhaps it will begin to open up doors you didn’t even know where closed. More importantly it can open up doors for others that they never knew where closed.

My challenge for you this month is to first ask yourself these probing questions and once you have the answers, start asking those in your life what is it they love most. Then, and this part is important. LISTEN to what they have to say. I mean really listen. I promise you, you will be amazed at the answers you hear and the doors that will open up for both you and the people you ask the question to.

I asked my Father, who is not a talking sort of man, on day in a car ride to the gas station, in the middle of an awkward silence. “Dad, what is it about your life you love most?” I think he was a little stunned by the question as he laughed a little uncomfortably. I sat silent waiting for his response and was brought to tears as he said, you know what I love most? My kids, I love my kids the most. I don’t see my father very often because we do not live close, but I can tell you the rest of my visit with him that week was amazing and we talked about all kinds of things and he even asked me to help him with something, which he does not do.

A couple weeks later I had a job interview for a new position at my current employment. I started the interview with why I was qualified and all that stuff. Telling my boss what was so great about me and why I was the best person for the job and then it hit me. This is all stuff he already knows and it’s the same stuff the other interviewees will be spouting off. What will set me apart I thought?

Then it hit me! Why not ask him what he wants, what is it that he loves about this company and why does he do the job he does. At first I think he was thrown off guard, but I learned more about this man in the 2 hour interview that’s right 2 hours than I hadn’t learned in the entire 5 years I had worked for him. His answer by the way, when I asked him what he loved most about his job was, the people, he had the best employees and best co-workers. I didn’t stop there though. I ask him what it was about his employees and co-workers he loved most. His reply, “I love the way they work as a team and are always there to help each other out, they are like a family.“

How cool do you think that was for me to hear. Most of the employees are afraid to even talk to this man and here he is telling me he loves his people the most. He also told me how much he enjoyed having this conversation.

Try this out. You will be amazed at the answers you get and even more amazed at the relationships you create and re-create.

I hope you enjoyed this months newsletter. If you have a specific question about positive thinking be sure to ask your question at ask a question, get an answer and I will be happy to share whatever knowledge I have on the topic. Thank you and I wish for you a month full of laughter.
