The Power of Gratitude

Today we will be focusing on the most powerful force on earth, the power of gratitude. It is one thing to thank your friends and family for simple gestures of kindness, but gratitude is so much more than this. If you are struggling with something in your life right now or if you need some extra power to get to where you want to be you'll want to make sure you read the article at the end of this newsletter, but first here are some grate quotes about being grateful.

This Months Positive Article

This is were we get to the grit. Most of the time you will find articles here from other authors as I like to share the knowledge of others that have touched me in some way because you get what I have to say on the website. Sometimes however, I have a burning desire to write something just for my newsletter subscribers. Either way this is where you will find the best positive articles.

The Power of Gratitude

Many of us are happy to thank a stranger for holding the door for us or to thank our friends who give us a shoulder to cry on when we have had a bad day, but few of us use gratitude in a way that gives us power. Few of us know the power gratitude really has or the part it plays in our lives.

If you really want to harness the power of gratitude you must be thankful for all that you have and all that you do not have, you must be thankful for all that you wish to have and for all that others have. Confused?

Let me demonstrate what I mean with a personal story of how the power of gratitude has changed an ailing body practically over night.

So I Started a Gratitude Journal

For months I had been in what i would call a rut, we all go through them (I call them growing pains) With this rut I was in I was having increased physical aches and pains, mental anguish and a struggling relationship. I felt as if I was spiraling out of control. (Yes me Ms. Positive)

I won't go into all the details, but I will touch on enough points that will give you and overall picture.

I was having medical struggles like I had never seen and I had a doctor who couldn't find time to see me, No matter how much time I spent working on my sites nothing seemed to be getting done, my partner and I were disconnected, many of my personal relationships were struggling and my mental state was at one of the lowest points i had seen in years.

So when I was at the very lowest I thought i could be and feeling like I just couldn't think myself out of this one I decided it was time to start a new gratitude journal. (what did I have to loose?)

My First Entry

The very first day I picked up my gratitude journal this is what I wrote:

Today I am making the choice to live the life of my dreams. To be adventurous, to love with my whole heart, to get back- up when I fall and most importantly be grateful for every moment of everyday I am blessed to have.

3)My Mom

4)My Websites

5)My Friends


7)Long Hugs

8)Sight to see the beauty that surrounds me

9)My Job

10)My dreams

What Happened over the next 72 hours

1)I found a new doctor that is kind, confident, caring and spiritual. We started with a few tests and i am confident I am on the road to better health both physically and mentally.

2)My partner and I have connected in a way that would pull at anyone’s heart strings. We have had long talks and we have held each other talking about the future and the great things in store for us and our family. We even went through a situation which in the past would have brought anger and frustration and instead found in one another compassion, love and understanding.

3)My mom added me to her prayer chain and has called everyday to see how I'm doing and to share what has been going on in her life.

4)Both my websites are getting a make over (still a lot of work to do but I am seeing great progress)

5) I saw my oldest friend and spent the day with her and her family and another great friend has invited me to her home for the 4th of July. ( I hadn't spent time with either of them in months)

6)I laughed more in those three days following my first journal entry than I had in months.

7)Between my friends and there families and my partner i have had more hugs than some people get in a lifetime.

8)I spent some time on the lake and witnessed the beauty of nature in all its wonder.

9)I started my vacation from my job.

10)and my dreams, well the ones that have been the biggest for the longest have just shown the first signs of growth in a long time. I am so blessed.

Your Challange for this Month

As you can see above my journal entries are simple, but the results are far from simply. I hope you notice also that the results I shared with you was AFTER I took the time to be grateful.

If you want to see a shift in your life I challenge you to start your own gratitude journal. Write down just 10 things you are grateful for that day. keep it simple it doesn't have to be a novel, just a simple list. Feel the gratitude in your heart and experience the power of gratitude.

Remember be thankful for what you have and also for that which you do not yet have. This is when you will experience the true power that gratitude can have.

Do this for a week and then please share your experience with us so that others may benefit from your grace and gratitude.
