Most people feel best about their work the week before their vacation, but it's not because of the vacation itself. What do you do the last week before you leave on a big trip? You clean up, close up, clarify, and renegotiate all your agreements with yourself and others. I just suggest that you do this weekly instead of yearly.

This is were I share cool stuff I have come across that I want to share with you. This month I want to share with you the new website I've been working on. Most of the time you will find articles here from other authors as I like to share the knowledge of others that have touched me in some way because you get what I have to say on the website. Sometimes however, I have a burning desire to write something just for my newsletter subscribers. Either way this is where you will find the best positive articles.
This Months Positive Article
Simple tip for getting out of your own way and getting done what you most want to get done
On the site I talk about setting goals and using goal charts to keep you motivated and I talk about the importance of affirmations and how to get the most out of them. These are all very important, however I recently saw the most amazing thing. I watched a young man tell his teacher that all he wanted to do was write. He wanted to be a writer, he wanted to write everyday.
The teacher asked “what is the problem?, if you want to write everyday, then write everyday.” seems simple enough right? Then the boy said, “but I have homework and school and chores and I have to hang out with my friends sometimes.” I think we can all relate. Then the magic happened The teacher wrote the statement on the board and it read I want to write everyday, but I have homework, school, chores and friends. He then asked if the statement he had written was accurate. The boy agreed that it was very accurate.
At this time the teacher makes one simple change to the statement replacing the word “but” with the word “and” and asked the boy to read the new statement out loud. “ I want to write everyday AND I have school, homework, chores, and friends. It was as if the light bulb went off automatically for this young man. You see in that moment he discovered he could write everyday And have school, homework, chores, and friends.
Standing there watching this I was amazed. I started thinking of all the thing I say I want to do BUT…
So I tried switching that but to and, and guess what, I’m doing the things I want and doing the thing I am already committed to. My challenge to you this month is that if you have something you have been wanting to do but the BUT is getting in the way try changing it to an AND, and see what happens.
